Throughout my life journey,
I have created numerous artworks.

These are my personal favorites that I hold dear to my heart.

I am a illustrator specialising in Australian flora and fauna.

I use a variety of mediums, such as acrylic paint and gouache, and occasionally dabble in digital art, although it's not my strong suit. My favourite medium to work with is soft pastels. I sometimes blend gouache to enhance certain features in images intended for printing.
There's something about the texture and colour palette of soft pastels that never fails to capture the spirit of my illustrations.
When I use them, I am constantly reminded of the diverse features of our landscape, such as the rusty reds of the outback and the beautiful lush and brilliant greens of our rainforests.
The soft, dusty textures of pastel colours reflect the beauty and essence of the natural landscape around us, creating a sense of harmony and warmth that I love to share with others through my art.
This fantastic continent continuously inspires me to create artwork to be admired and enjoyed,
with a mission to encourage awareness of the importance of our continent's flora and fauna.

Mixed media digitally manipulated to create rich, layered textures and vivid, immersive visuals.

Australia’s Flora

Abstract painting of tree bark with eucalyptus leaves and white flowers

The flora of Australia plays a crucial role in maintaining the stability and resilience of its ecosystem. The unique flora and fauna of this remarkable continent are a result of its distinct land formation and climate. About 85% of Australia's plants are endemic, meaning they are native to a specific area and only grow naturally there. Australia is home to half of the world's marsupial species, which rely on these plants for survival. Many of these plants not only serve as a food source but are also used for medicinal purposes.

Queen of Sheba Orchid

This is my latest project There will be five paintings in the series depicting Australian endangered flora. Each painting is in soft pastels using a smudging technique on multiple layers, blending colours, allowing the painting to blend textures from smooth to rough, depending on the image.

Artist Statement — Competition Entries for Rusty Barrell, Australian Vodka

This series was created to celebrate the strength, beauty, and resilience of Australia’s native wildlife.
Each piece highlights a different species that embodies the raw spirit of the Australian landscape —
from the stealth of the crocodile and the power of the funnel-web spider to the quiet determination of the blue-banded bee.

Using soft pastel, I aimed to capture not just the physical detail of each animal, but the emotion and energy they bring to their environments.
Together, these works reflect the connection between nature’s fiercest and most fragile elements —
a reminder of the importance of coexistence and respect for our wild world.

Strong and Smooth Crocodile

I chose the crocodile for its quiet dominance and ancient power—a creature that moves with patience yet commands its surroundings with undeniable strength.

Created in soft pastel, this piece captures the stillness of an outback waterhole at sunset, where the crocodile’s form blends seamlessly into the warm reflections of the sky.

The composition mirrors the dual nature of this apex predator—both serene and formidable—while the desolate trees and rippling water add a haunting sense of calm before the storm.

.Powerful Funnel-Web Spider

I chose the funnel-web spider for its incredible strength, resilience, and quiet determination—qualities that command both respect and fascination.

Created with soft pastels, this piece captures a familiar suburban backyard scene in New South Wales, where these spiders often make their homes.

The artwork highlights the intricate balance of nature, featuring the funnel-web’s web alongside native plants like the dandelion—small, everyday details that add a touch of delicate beauty to the powerful presence of this remarkable spider.

Native Australian Blue-
banded Bee on Paper Flowers

I chose the Blue-banded Bee for its quiet industriousness and vital role in pollination—a small yet powerful reminder of how every creature contributes to the balance of nature.

Created in soft pastel, this piece captures the warm glow of the Australian landscape, with the bee resting on striking red paper flowers beneath a vast summer sky.

The vivid contrast between the bee’s shimmering blue stripes and the fiery blooms celebrates the resilience and beauty of native species that thrive even in the harshest conditions.
